Introduction

Class guides are a rough explanation of the class, designed to give you an idea of the class and what you should be aiming for. You should really adapt the guide and follow your own instincts to match your play style!

I highly recommend looking at as many different sources as possible. The class discords are a great place to start, most have their own guides and resources as well as plenty of skilled players willing to help with questions.

The Drakania class uses a 2-handed sword called the Slayer as her primary weapon and a Shard as their secondary weapon, which gathers ions from the air around her to enhance her attacks. Drakania is a melee to mid-ranged class and descendant of the legendary dragon Markthanan, making her an enemy of Guardian, who was born from the dragon Labreska.

At level 56, Drakania unlocks her awakening and succession skills, as well as a new awakening weapon, which is the Trion spears. Upon acquiring the Trion, Awakening Drakania can now unfurl her Dragon wings and begin her flight of destruction. In her left hand, she holds a spear empowered with raging winds, and in the right, a raging inferno. Awakened Drakania gains the ability to surge into the air and crash down on unsuspecting enemies, or soar through the air using her new wings.

Succession Drakania instead calls upon the fallen dragons souls to enhance her Slayer abilites. Allowing her to steal ion energy using her Shard and use it to cast her skill without charging them. Succession Drakania is a heavy hitter, with lots of mobility, and bruiser playstyle.

Drakania also has a unique passive calledCeaseless Vengeance. This passive QoL skill allows Drakania to craft an item called Shattered Dragon’s Male by Processing (L) > Heating Dragon Scale Fossil x15. This item can then be used to gain the “Church” buffs that you usually need to collect from Towns for a silver cost.

Awakening VS Succession

Drakania Succession and Awakening can be unlocked after level 56 after speaking to the Black Spirit and completing the Awakening and Succession quests under the suggestions tab.

  • The Awakening will unlock a completely new skill tree, which will be your primary skills from now on. The skills in the pre-awakening are mostly utility skills, and your main damage dealers will be your Awakening skills.
  • The Succession skill kit enhances your Slayer skills instead and only has a few awakening skills.

Your awakening weapon still affects your succession damage and vice versa. For example, if you are using the Succession kit, then 30% of your Awakening AP is still applied to the damage of Succession skills, as well as the additional item stats on the awakening weapon, such as Human/Species Damage and Accuracy.

Both specs are completely viable and comes down to player preference.

Succession Drakania is more of a bruiser class. She has no grab skill and her skills can be quite slow to cast, but she has lots of protected skills and good mobility, as well as added HP regen built into her skills. Succesion Drakania relies on you being able to play around your Ion Energy, allowing you to cancel your skills for faster cancels and combos. Since she can be quite stationary, you also need to play around the range of her skills, which are more ranged than they first appear. She’s not the fastest grinder, but isn’t the slowest either, and is fairly average compared to other classes. However, she excels in largescale group PVP since she can deal a lot of damage while completely protected. A lot of her skills also drain mana from enemies around her, which is really useful in large scale to disarm your enemies.

Awakening Drakania is a very different playstyle. She has two stances: Hexeblood and Dragonblood. Most of her CC skills are in Hexeblood form, and her protections are in Dragonblood form. Players need to learn to seemlessly swap between the two and properly flow skills together. Awakening tends to do a little better than Succession in 1V1s and smaller scale because of their faster animations, but has a weaker HP regen passive and has to be more careful, since she can’t tank as much raw damage. She also outperforms Succession in most grind sots, but that doesn’t mean Succession is not viable.

Skill Builds

Since the skill point update in late 2022, you can obtain all skills for approximately 1,000 skill points. Focus on your main skills first, then level the passives. The Weight Training skill should be leveled last since it only gives you weight limit increase.

Protected Skills

It is important to read through your skills to understand which skills have protection and crowd control effects. Read through your skills carefully to get familiar with what each skill does. You can also filter the different effects in the Skill Window (K).

  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (3)Super armor (SA)
    • This means you cannot be crowd controlled while this effect is active (except grab/grapple), but you will still take damage from any attacks
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (4)Forward guard (FG)
    • This means you will block damage and crowd control effects coming from the front direction of your character. The block can be broken if you take enough damage and you will see a blue shield with a number, indicating the % left of the block.
    • Some classes have an “S block”. This means you will automatically use Forward Guard when moving backward with “S”.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (5)Invincible (I-frame)
    • This means that you will not take damage and cannot be crowd controlled from any direction for the duration of the effect

PVE Iframe

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (40) Evasion, and Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (41) Dragonwalk are also “PVE Iframes”, which means these skills have a 1-second invincibility effect against monsters only, even if you spam the skill repeatedly.

Locked Skills

To lock a skill, press the lock icon on the top of each skill icon in the skill window (K).

These are the Awakening and Succession skills I recommend locking to help prevent messing up combos during PVP.

  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (42)Evasion

All Drakania skills are useful and don’t interfere with other skill inputs, so the only recommended skill to lock is Evasion.

Optional locks/more info:

  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (43)Brimbolt Annihilation (unlearn)
    • Some Succession players choose to unlearn (not lock) the Magnus Skill – Brimbolt Annihilation. This is because as soon as you learn it, you can no longer use the S + E keybind to activate Markthanan’s Breath and must hotbar it instead. Using Markthanan’s Breath through the hotbar is not as smooth and some of the best skill cancels do not work.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (44)Skewer
    • You can also choose to lock Skewer and/or Flow: Aphyxiate (RMB flow after Skewer). Locking Skewer allows you to use other RMB skills without Skewer taking priority. Drakania also already has a lot of accuracy in succession, so the accuracy % buff on Skewer is not really needed in most cases and is overkill if you are already hitting monsters with 100% hit rate. Skewer is hard to use from the hotbar though because of its long animation and since it can no longer be canceled into, so if you can get used to the potential input conflicts then you should keep it unlocked.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (45)Slayer Training
    • Slayer Training is another optional lock and the reasons to lock it are the same as for Skewer. Locking your LMB auto attack allows you to flow into LMB skills more fluidly.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (46)Flow: Markthanan’s Wings
    • For awakening, you can also lock Flow: Markthanan’s Wings to allow you to use the Legacy (SPACE) skill after Refraction (A/D + RMB) and Dragonwalk (SHIFT + A/S/D). This allows smoother transitions with Legacy swaps, but you will not be able to use the Dragon Flight skill and will have to use other mobility skills instead. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend locking the skill, but some players prefer this playstyle.

Hotbar Skills

These are the minimum skills I recommend putting on your hotbar.

You may also want to put more skills on your hotbar and cooldown slots to keep track of them. For more information about how to do this, check out our Edit UI and Settings Guide.

Core Skills

Core skills are a way of upgrading 1 skill from your awakening skill kit.

Core skills are usually down to preference and there are quite a few viable options. Personally, I would start with either Techtonic Slam, or Sundering Roar, but feel free to test out all the cores and figure out which one fits your playstyle best.

  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (58)Core: Tip of the Scale: Forward Guard during the skill (nullified during cooldown)
    • Very versatile, with the core giving more stamina regeneration than the normal version.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (59)Core: Spiteful Soul: Stiffness on 3rd attack hit (nullified during cooldown)
    • Currently considered to be the worst of the core options, not recommended to take.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (60)Core: Sundering Roar: Super Armor during the skill
    • Useful for high protected damage at a decent range, Super Armor trading during PVP, or getting a catch with a Knockdown CC.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (61)Core: Savage Decree: Forward Guard during the skill (nullified during cooldown)
    • Useful for catches since it has a proteced float CC. The Forward Guard is also useful for trading since it doesn’t have the forward movement that Core: Tip of the Scales has.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (62)Core: Tectonic Slam: Super Armor during the skill
    • Protected movement skill with CC catch that flows well into Flow: Obliterate then Doombringer. Useful as an engage skill if you take the core, or just as unprotected movement if you don’t take the core.
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (63)Core: Extinction: Super Armor during the skill
    • Similar to Core: Sundering Roar in the sense that they are both offer Super Armor with a Knockdown CC. However, Sundering Roar tends to be preferred as a core when comparing the two, since Extinction is safer to use without the protection and Sundering Roar has a lot more damage with bigger AOE.

Skill Enhancement (Rabam) Skills

Skill Enhancement skills can be obtained in the Skill Window (K) under the “Skill Enhancement” tab at the top. At levels 56, 57, and 58, you will have 2 different options to choose between. These skills have no skill points cost, but you have to have other skills leveled up to be able to take them.

Level 56 – [SHIFT + X]

  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (64)Soaring Claw – Requires [Flow: Asphyxiate II] and [Markthanan’s Flourish IV]
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (65)Markthanan’s Fang – Requires [Flow: Asphyxiate II] and [Abyssal Fang IV]

For your level 56 rabam it comes down to preference, both of the options are protected, and offer a Float CC and air attack, with similar damage. The two options are quite niche and not really used.

The Soaring Claw skill is a little faster to activate and can flow nicely after the Dragonwalk skill (SHIFT + A/D) or Refraction (RMB + A/D).

Markthanan’s Fangcan be useful for its MP regen in PVE, does a little more damage than Soaring Claw, and can combo nicely into various skills.

Level 57 – [SHIFT + Z]

  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (66)Eviscerating Wings – Requires [Flow: Markthanan’s Wings] and [Eviscerate IV]
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (67)Dragon’s Assault Requires [Flow: Markthanan’s Wings] and [Markthanan’s Flourish IV]
    • (Preferred Choice)

For the level 57 rabams, the preferred choice is usually Dragon’s Assault. The skill is the safer option of the 2, since it has Super Armor for the entire skill duration, and inflicts a -15 debuff on your targets.

In comparison, Eviscerating Wings has a Forward Guard protection but only when the skill is charging. The dash part of the skill is unprotected, but it has Stun CC on the dash attack hits and will go through a Forward Guard. It can be a useful pick for certain scenarios by experienced players, but I would recommend using Dragon’s Assault for general use.

Level 58 – [Quickslot Only]

  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (68)Abyssal Advance – Requires [Abyssal Fang IV] and [Markthanan’s Breath III]
    • (Preferred Choice)
  • Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (69)Abyssal Dominion Requires [Abyssal Fang IV] and [Markthanan’s Dominion V]

For the 3rd Rabam skill, the preferred choice is Abyssal Advance. This is a buff skill that recovers your Max HP by 10%, and also gives a +15% Movement Speed and +24% Critical Rate buff to yourself and allies for 15 seconds. The skill is unprotected and is quite slow to cast, but is useful for a pre-buff before you go into combat.

Abyssal Dominion has Super Armor protection and debuffs the targets Movement Speed, Casting Speed, and Attack Speed. However, the skill is very slow and stationary, leaving you vulnerable to a grab. It also has a long cooldown of 35 seconds, so most players prefer using Abyssal Advance instead.

Skill Add-ons

Below are some examples of PVE skill add-ons you can take. These add-ons are recommended by the Class Discord for the specific combos listed in this guide. Full credit goes to the original sharer.

If you would like example skill add-ons for other scenarios, please refer to the Class Discord and its resources.

I recommend experimenting with your add-ons and figuring out what is best for you because it really depends on your personal preference and how you play your class. If you’re simply not sure what to take then you can blindly follow the examples below and they will still be effective.

You can also check our Skill Add-on guide for a complete list of Skill Add-ons.

Healing and Cleanse Skills

Drakania Succession and Awakening has various healing skills thanks to their passive Markthanan’s Heart skill. The heals are only activated when you are below 50% HP, and most skills are capped to only heal you up to 50%/70% HP.

  • Succession Charging skills gradually heal you for 5% of your Max HP until you reach 50%/70% HP.
  • Instant Activating Charged skills using Ion Energy will instantly heal you for 25% of your max HP and is uneffected by the 50%/70% cap.

Some skills can also cleanse you (and sometimes your allies), removing any Attack and Movement Speed debuffs that are applied. Debuffs from Skill Add-ons cannot be cleansed.

  • All Succession Prime skills cleanse you
  • All Succession Charging skills cleanse you and your allies if the skill is being charged
  • All Succession Charging skills cleanse you if the skill is instant activated using Ion Energy

Ion Energy Mechanic (Succession)

The Ion Energy Mechanic is a mechanic unique to Drakania and a core part of Succesion Drakania.

When using certain skills, Drakania will store Ion Energy in her Ion Meter.

She can then consume this energy to instant activate skills at full capacity that would usually require being charged.

Weapons

Mainhand WeaponDetails
Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (228)
Tuvala Slayer
Tuvala Weapons are obtained through Season Servers and are the best starting weapons. If you are a new or returning player, I would recommend creating a Season Character.
Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (229)
Kzarka Slayer
Kzarka is a boss weapon that you will upgrade your Tuvala weapon into. It is a great weapon for PVX.
Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (230)
Offin Tett Slayer
Offin Tett is a boss weapon alternative. Most players tend to pick Kzarka. The difference is that Offin has slightly more AP which can help you reach the higher AP brackets more easily, in return you lose accuracy, which can be fine on certain classes that don’t rely on accuracy too much. If you are unsure of which weapon to go for, just go with Kzarka.
Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (231)
Blackstar Slayer
Blackstar is the best in slot PVE weapon. Godr-Ayed weapons are an alternative to Blackstar weapons, with the same stats but a different enhancing method.

You can swap from a PEN Kzarka to a TET Blackstar and it will still perform better in PVE due to the additional monster damage. The monster damage applies to both your pre-awakening and awakening skills, even though it is a main-hand weapon. Unlike boss weapons, you cannot put caphras into this weapon, but it has a higher base AP. PEN Blackstars are also the hardest weapons to enhance.

Tuvala Trion

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (233)

Dandelion Trion

Dandelion is a boss weapon which you will upgrade your Tuvala weapon into. It is a great weapon for PVX.

You can also enhance this weapon with a Garmoth’s Heart to make it a Fiery weapon and unlock extra Crystal slots.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (234)

Blackstar Trion

Blackstar is the best in slot PVE weapon. Godr-Ayed weapons are an alternative to Blackstar weapons, with the same stats but a different enhancing method.

Like the main-hand Blackstar weapon, the awakening Blackstar has additional monster damage. However, it has less monster damage than the main-hand, so usually players prioritize getting the main-hand one first, or may choose to only use the main-hand Blackstar weapon.
Unlike boss weapons, you cannot put caphras into this weapon, but it has a higher base AP. PEN Blackstars are also the hardest weapons to enhance.

Offhand WeaponDetails
Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (235)

Tuvala Shard

Tuvala Weapons are obtained through Season Servers and are the best starting weapons. If you are a new or returning player, I would recommend creating a Season Character.
Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (236)

Kutum Shard

Kutum is the offhand weapon you should get first and should swap your Tuvala offhand for.

The Kutum weapons have a mixture of AP and DP with additional monster damage. This makes them great for PVE and they are also good in PVP when running hybrid evasion builds on certain classes.

You can also enhance this weapon with a Garmoth’s Heart to make it a Fiery weapon with extra stats.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (237)

Nouver Shard

Nouver is your PVP offhand. It is considered the best in slot for PVP in most classes due to its high AP.

You can also enhance this weapon with a Garmoth’s Heart to make it a Fiery weapon with extra stats.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (238)

Blackstar Shard

Blackstar offhands are another choice for PVE. Godr-Ayed weapons are an alternative to Blackstar weapons, with the same stats but a different enhancing method.

However, when you compare a PEN Blackstar offhand with a PEN Kutum (Caphras 20), there is very little difference between the two. Blackstars are known to be the hardest weapons in the game to enhance, and obtaining a PEN Kutum with caphras level 20 is much more obtainable, for this reason, it is not recommended to go with a Blackstar offhand at the moment and would be an endgame goal for very few players.

Armor

For your armor, you will make a choice between Damage Reduction or Evasion gear. I recommend reading our guide about the two different DP stats if you want to learn what the two different stats do.

Generally, you are recommended to build Damage Reduction on Drakania

Tuvala Set

  • Tuvala Helmet
  • Tuvala Armor
  • Tuvala Gloves
  • Tuvala Shoes
Tuvala Armors are obtained through Season Servers and are the best starting armors. If you are a new or returning player, I would recommend creating a Season Character.

Boss Set (Damage Reduction)

  • Griffon Helmet
  • Red Nose Armor
  • Bheg’s Gloves
  • Urugon’s Shoes
This boss set is the most popular boss set to go for after graduating from Season. This set is focuses on Damage Reduction, which is viable on all classes.

Classes which should always pick damage reduction:

  • Warrior, Ranger, Berserker, Tamer, Valkyrie, Wizard, Witch, Dark Knight, Archer, Guardian, Nova, Drakania, Woosa

This is because these classes either have bad base evasion or have shields that scale well with Damage Reduction.

** Choosing the Red Nose Armor is recommended instead of Dim Tree to save you silver later on, since it requires far fewer caphras to get to caphras level 10.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (247)Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (248)Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (249)Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (250)

Boss Set (Evasion)

  • Griffon Helmet
  • Red Nose Armor
  • Leebur’s Gloves
  • Muskan’s Shoes
This boss set is the evasion build boss set. If you are unsure of which to pick, the general answer is to just go with the Damage Reduction set.

Evasion is only considered good on certain classes:

  • Striker, Mystic, Hashashin, Shai

and can be considered viable on other classes in return for less damage:

  • Sorceress, Musa, Maehwa, Ninja, Kunoichi, Lahn, Sage, Corsair, Maegu

** Choosing the Red Nose Armor is recommended instead of Dim Tree to save you silver later on, since it requires far fewer caphras to get to caphras level 10.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (251)

Fallen God Armor

Fallen God Armor is the best in slot armor piece.

It will eventually replace your Red Nose armor. To make the Fallen God Armor, you will need a Flame of Despair and a PEN Red Nose or Dim Tree Armor with level 10 caphras. This is why it is recommended to go with Red Nose, since it costs fewer caphras to get to caphras level 10.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (252)

Labreska Helmet

Labreska Helmet is the best in slot helmet piece. It will eventually replace your Giath/Griffon helmet. To make the Labreska helmet you will need a Flame of Frost and a PEN Giath or Griffon Helmet with level 10 caphras. Both of these helmets require the same amount of caphras to get to level 10.

Accessories

There are various different accessories in the game. At first, just focus on using the accessories that give you the highest AP in each slot.

There are also “free” accessories that all new players should get:

AccessoryHow to obtain
Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (253)Tuvala AccessoriesTuvala accessories are starter accessories obtained from the Season Server.

Try to push up your accessories to PEN if possible, but if you don’t have much time to play Season, then focus on your Weapons and Armor first.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (254)PEN Capotia NecklaceYou can obtain a FREE PEN Capotia Accessory from the Season Servers Special Reward.

For your first season, it is recommended to get the PEN Capotia Necklace because it gives the most AP. You then want to create another Season character in the next season to get the PEN Capotia Belt, and finally the PEN Capotia Ring or Earring.

Drakania Class Guide - BDFoundry (255)PEN Ring of Crescent GuardianYou can obtain a PEN Ring of Crescent Guardian by completing Jetina’s PEN Accessory quests.

These are daily quests that take a minimum of 45 days to complete. Every new and returning player should complete these as early as possible for a highly discounted PEN accessory.

Common Starter PVE accessories:

  • TET Black Distortion Earrings or TET Narc Ear Accessory (PEN Capotia Earring)
  • TET Basilisk’s Belt (or PEN Capotia Belt)
  • TET Ring of Crescent Guardian
  • TET Ogre Ring/Laytenn’s Necklace (or PEN Capotia Necklace).

Artifacts and Lightstones

There are a few different viable choices for both Artifacts and Lightstone combos. Drakania is the “Melee Damage” type so you want to go for Melee Accuracy and Melee Damage for offensive artifacts.

For PVE Lighstones there are a few different options to min-max. For certain spots, you may want to use Species damage combos (eg. The Wild: Demihumans, The Wild: Kamaslyvia, The Wild: Humans). Species damage combos perform better if you are reaching the monster AP caps at a certain zone.

A more generic PVE combo is listed below that is recommended for your class and will work at any spot.

You can also find more information about Artifacts and Lightstones, and how to obtain them, in our guide. We also have a list of Best in slot Artifacts and Lightstones.

Useful Links/Credits

I highly recommend checking out the Drakania Class Discord for resources about your class. The class discords always have the most up-to-date information and tons of experienced players that can help with questions or gearing advice.

I would like to give a shoutout to the Staff and Helper roles in the Drakania discord for all their hard work gathering resources and for answering my questions about the class. Many thanks to Sunny, Aureys, and Greydawn! I’d also like to thank Naru for reaching out and offering to assist in the creation of this guide. You can find additional resources below, including the guides written by the Class Discord itself. I honestly cannot recommend enough to join the discord.

Credits Disclaimer: Since there are now 26 BDO classes, it is impossible for me to keep class guides fully maintained. My main class is Ranger and I don’t claim to be the best in any class. Therefore, I use resources and recommendations from the Class discords since (as all other players would agree) this is the best source. I also ask for advice from friends who are more experienced in the class. Where possible, I credit specific players for information such as Add-ons, and combos. However, sometimes there is no player mentioned as the original sharer. If there are any issues with credit or you would like certain information removed/changed, please reach out to me!
